Shop Love…Le Village Marche
We’re excited to share another wonderful shop with you that carries Kate & Birdie Paper Co. products. Today, we’re offering you a peek into Le Village Marche – a boutique located just outside of Washington, D.C., in Arlington, Virginia’s Shirlington Village.
Following a trip to beautiful Paris in 2000, Angela Phelps, came home dreaming of one day opening a shop that would encompass everything she loved most about the European city. In 2007, her dream became reality and Le Village Marche was born. Speaking to both Angela’s love of interior design and fascination with Parisian art and architecture, Le Village Marche offers an array of vintage and vintage-inspired home accents and accessories.
Le Village Marche has been carrying our line since we first met Angela at the National Stationery Show over three years ago. Angela really is the sweetest shop owner and one of our favourites to see and catch up with in New York City each year. And, we love that our DC-area friends can always find a great selecton of K&B goods in her charming, French-inspired shop. – Gloria & Amy
To find out about this lovely shop, we asked Angela a few questions about travel, style inspiration and more…
What inspires you?
My initial inspiration for the store came from a trip to Paris – the flea markets, the beautiful architecture, the way the French live and enjoy life at a slower pace than we do.
Name 3 things in the shop you can’t live/work without.
No. 1 – Old Canada Dry crates I found at a flea market years ago have been fantastic pieces for displays over the years.
No. 2 – My iPad, which keeps me connected.
No. 3 – My to-do list and a gel pen.
If you could spend a weekend anywhere, where would you go?
A toss up between Paris and Napa.
Do you collect anything?
Whenever I’m out antiquing, I find myself drawn to old typewriters, cameras and phones from the early 1900’s. I also can’t pass up old Ball jars in blue that were used for canning. The color is gorgeous.
What is your favourite Kate & Birdie product?
That’s a tough question because I love everything by Kate & Birdie and we sell lots of it in my store. Possibly the decorative wrap because there are so many things you can do with it.
Thank you Angela!
Kate & Birdie’s Hydrangeas wrapping paper takes on a relaxed, Parisian style when paired with natural linen and vintage-style, kraft gift tags.
A selection of Kate & Birdie’s wrapping paper designs hang on display in the company studio, providing creative inspiration throughout the work day.
