The Story

Gloria Wall founded Kate & Birdie Paper Co. in 2004 with a desire to bring products to the market that are made with beauty, charm and longevity in mind. Over the course of the next decade, the company established itself in the specialty paper and gift industry, offering its Canadian-made products to the global market through more than 1500 retail brands, independent shops, bookstores and fabric stores worldwide. Named a Canadian designer to watch by House & Home magazine only a few short years into her career, Gloria's products and illustrations are designed in soft, fresh colour palettes with plenty of neutrals, in classic patterns and textures that are her signature. While her focus began in high quality, sustainable stationery and paper goods, Gloria's heart has always been in prints, patterns and textiles for the home. Now an award-winning surface design and illustration studio with two decades of industry experience, Kate & Birdie continues to collaborate with premier brands and manufacturing partners to develop fabrics, stationery and gifts that bring a little more beauty to homes across the globe.

Gloria has given many talks over the years to art and business students, at entrepreneur events and retail shops, and offers consulting to creative business owners. She lives in a charming 1929 home surrounded by elms along the river in Winnipeg, Canada with her husband Steve and their two children. She spends her days on neighbourhood strolls and designing prints and patterns from her carriage-house style backyard studio.
